APHON Awards and Scholarships

APHON members are eligible for APHON Awards that are presented to pediatric hematology/oncology nurses who have been recognized as going above and beyond in their profession or in their participation in APHON. Click on each award category below for the criteria information and application form.

Casey Hooke Distinguished Service Award	Presented to an APHON member who has demonstrated excellence in service to and leadership of APHON.	$1,000
Dr. Patricia Greene Leadership Award	Presented to an APHON member who has demonstrated excellence in service to and leadership of APHON in a given year.	$1,000
Jean Fergusson Excellence in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing Education Award	Recognizes an outstanding educator in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology nursing through demonstration of proficiency, professional contributions to the field, and positive teacher-learner relationships.	$250
Jean Fergusson Excellence in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing Practice Award	Recognizes a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse for compassion and expertise in clinical nursing practice and for actively incorporating research and new ideas into clinical practice.	$250
APHON Excellence in Patient/Family Educational Materials Award	Recognizes pediatric hematology/oncology nurses who develop outstanding educational materials to assist patients and families in understanding the disease they face.	$100
Dianne Fochtman New Author Award	Presented to an APHON member who is a first-time author of a manuscript accepted for publication in JOPON in the last year and for whom this is the first or second time a manuscript has been published.	$100
APHON Writing Award	Awarded to an APHON member who is first author of a manuscript accepted for publication in the journal in the last year and who has had three or more manuscripts published previously.	$100
APHON Counts Writing Award	Given to recognize contributing authors of APHON Counts.	$100 in APHON Bucks
APHON Distinguished Researcher Award	Given to a member who has excelled as a nurse scientist.	$250
APHON Novice Researcher Award	Given to a novice nurse scientist.	$250
Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON^®) of the Year Award	Recognizes the outstanding achievements of a CPON^® in the areas of pediatric oncology nursing, oncology nursing service, and promotion of oncology nursing certification. The CPON of the Year award is sponsored by ONCC.	$1,000
International Nurse Scholarship	APHON offers a scholarship that provides an opportunity for a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse from a developing country to attend the APHON annual conference and exhibit each year.	up to $3,000
