We used to premedicate PEG only (not Erwinia or Rylaze) with benadryl, famotidine, and hydrocortisone. A review of our institutional data showed no difference in reaction rates compared to historical data without premeds, so we no longer premedicate for PEG.

My institution is looking into pegaspargase pre-medications. We currently premedicate with pepcid and benadryl however, we are considering adding hydrocortisone as well. Can others speak to what premedications are used at their institutions for pegaspargase (erwinia and rylaze also included)?

    Thank you,
