    Hi Stephanie
    1) we do not collect blood cultures using a sterile procedure
    2) our cultures are only from central lines
    3) we do not do cap changes before/after blood cultures

    Hope this helps!

    Hi all,

We are reviewing our blood culture policy within our BMT patients and would love to hear from you~
    A few questions:

    1. Do you use sterile procedure for blood cultures?
    2. Do you perform central line draw and peripheral stick with blood cultures (first spike and/or subsequent draws) before start of antibiotics?
    3. Do you perform central line cap change with each blood culture?

    Thank you! Kind regards,
    Stephanie
