In reply to your question about sterile ice.  No, we do not require sterile ice for BMT patients.

Our ice machine is routinely checked for integrity and as a potential source of infection.

After 20 years of this practice, we have had zero infections traced to the ice machine.

    Hi APHON friends,

Quick question:  Does your institution make/give BMT patients sterile ice?  If so, how do you do this?

    Thank you in advance,
    Lauren
