Like many other hospitals, our hospital has adopted a “Mask for All” policy for staff, visitors and patients over the age of 2. While this is fairly easy to comply with in the ambulatory setting, we are having some challenges with our in-patients, especially our long stay or highly nauseous BMT/Chemo patients.
I would like to bench mark with other institutions with the following questions:
1) Do you ask your patients to wear masks while they are admitted?
2) If the answer is yes, do you expect patients to sleep in their mask, as staff are going in and out of the room all night?
Thanks so much!
