I have worked at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on BMT for over 20 years. We also use protective isolation for our SCIDS patients throughout their entire stay until discharge after transplant.

    Subject: SCIDS Protective Isolation?

    Hello all!

We have been doing protective isolation for our SCIDS patients not only before transferring from immunology to SCT service but also throughout the duration of their post-SCT inpatient stay.  I did look through old discussions regarding this topic, but the latest comments were from over a year ago so curious if anyone else practices this conservatively? Looking to update our nursing policy and appreciate any input or references you’ve used to guide your institution’s practice.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!
    Gracie
