We leave the microclave/needleless connector in place. Although we have needed to remove the microclave per protocol instructions for a recent investigational cellular therapy product, we leave our needleless connector in place for all of our other CTP infusions.

I’m looking to see what other institutions are doing during cellular therapy product infusions. We currently disconnect the needleless connector from the lumen and infuse the cells via gravity into the lumen.
We are looking to change our practice to keep the needleless connector attached to the lumen while we infuse the product.
What does your hospital do? Remove the needleless connector or keep it attached?
