We do not prime the caps with saline prior to changing…have not for years and have had no issues.

Is it your practice to fill the “dead space” on the CVL with saline before attaching the new cap?

We use the Microclave Clear caps as our IV cap which has a 0.04 mL volume.
We had been removing the dead space from the cap with saline with the previous cap we used and wondered if this is needed.
Do you all prime caps with saline before attaching to patients?
Do families do this at home too?
