First step is to re-educate:  are the staff pushing it first into the tubing (I keep the Spiros in the package and take the back of my hand to engage or push it to the end of the tubing and then twist.

If that does not work ICU medical makes a c clip goes between the spiros and spin collar….have them bring you a sample! (ICU medical)

    Thanks,

    Mary Lynn

What closed system transfer device do you use on the end of your lines for chemotherapy?

We currently use spiros and have had multiple issues with disconnecting and chemo spills.

What do you use at your institution? If you use spiros, have you had an issue with disconnections?

    Thanks!
