Mesna, Leucovorin, yes. Dexamethasone, Prednisone has a “Chemo” designation when it is on a COG protocol and that is visible in the MAR, so non chemo nurses are aware that they should not be administering it, and that it requires a 2 Chemo RN double check.

I have a question in regard to the Second RN check at hospital facilities.  Does your hospital have in place a BCMA capture for a second RN for all drugs a patient receives on a COG protocol (this would include non-chemo drugs that are part of the protocol; such as Mesna, Leucovorin, Dexamethasone, prednisone etc.)?  Our practice currently requires only the second RN check for chemotherapeutic drugs listed on the protocol.

    Thank you for your time,
