At our institution we do use curo caps for central lines, however for the little ones (under 3 I would estimate) we don’t put on or cover the sites that are further at from the patients.  Our concern is choking hazard.

We have had really good CLABSI rates at our hospital for the past 4 years.  We went 495 days with no CLABSI last year and now have had 3 within 6 months.  Our adult hospital uses Curos caps.  We would like to know how many pediatric hospitals routinely use the Curos caps.  Are you concerned with them being a choking hazard?  Do you use on all ages?

    Thanks in advance,
    Kelly
