We draw blood from PICCs the same way we do for ports and Broviacs/Hickmans.  We use a closed blood draw system and flush with 5 mL first, waste, 3 mL (6 mL for 1st pk or anticoags); at the end flush with the remaining 5 mL.

We are looking at our policy on drawing blood from PICC lines.  I am wondering what others do for this.  I would welcome feedback on  the policies that you use in your institutions.
    Thanks 🙂
