    We do not have a practice of changing the dressing when the blood culture comes back positive.  We use tunnelled lines for about 97% of the patients.  The dressing is clear with a small biopatch so that we can see the site for the most part. No gauze is used.

    Is it anyone’s practice to change the dressing of the CVC when blood cultures first come back positive, to assess the insertion site?
