Reply To: Premedication and Hydration for the day of Auto Stem Cell Reinfusion
We start hydration on admission with 1500 ml/m2. Day -1 (a long time ago) we decided to start a bicarb drip on day -1. We pre-medicate with Zofran, Benadryl and HCTZ.

This message has been cross posted to the following Discussions: Nurse Educators and Pediatric Chemotherapy Biotherapy Instructors . ——————————————- We are a small Pediatric Hem Onc Service in an adult hospital. We are changing our Chemo Orders over to Epic Beacon. In preparation for this transition we are working on our Auto Transplant Day of Infusion Order Set. In particular we are looking at what others do for hydration and premedication prior to stem cell reinfusion on the day of transplant. Presently we increase hydration and premedicate with hydrocortisone and benedryl. Would others be willing to share what premedications they use and their hours of hydration. The adult service at our institution prehydrates for 2 hours and only uses benedryl. The Epic representatives would like the order sets to be the same if we can. Please help. Thank you
