The C17 Children’s Cancer & Blood disorders committee have published Guidelines for Platelet Transfusion thresholds for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Patients. 2011. I have attached the guidelines.
There are guidelines for major invasive procedures.  They do give guidelines for minor invasive procedures without evidence for the recommendation.

We do not have one, other than clinical judgment.

It sounds as though you may have found an EBP project.

Recently I posted this question on the general APHON form and was not successful in hearing back from people, so I am trying again.

    My question is….

Do you have a platelet level threshold for inserting a Nasogastric tube?

    If so what is it?

If not, how do you decide the platelet level is a risk or not?

We would really value your responses! Mary Jean
