Hi, I am a Clinical Specialist for Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology from Fort Lauderdale. I am taking my CPHON exam shortly, and I would live to know if anyone had an upcoming preparation class in the Southeast region? Or if you have any contacts? Thank you! How many days/hours is your CPHON review course? -2.5 days (Wednesday, Thursday, 1/2 of Friday)
Do your sections simply mirror the test content outline? -Our sections mainly mirror the Foundations sections but we altered some based on the test content outline.
Do you make it available to nurses outside your organization? -We did our first one last fall, so not yet…but plan to
Do you only allow nurses with the certification to teach the sections? -Yes, all nurses that helped teach had to be CPHON certified nurses, but we also had specialty nurses, physicians, and our palliative care team teach. We provided the slides to the section teachers beforehand with instructions that they could add content, but not take any away.
Do you integrate questions into the sections, have a post-test, combination of these? And who creates the questions? This one is hard as they aren’t validated ONCC questions from a bank..but I’m still curious. -We had questions at the end of every section built into Kahoot quizzes. We had a planning committee who gathered questions from several different resources and study guides, and we also wrote some of our own. We used the content outline to help with this. We did not have a post test.
Always willing to answer questions or discuss more, if needed!
