We are currently looking at the process we use for chemo administration and would love to know what the group does for body fluid handling and PPE:
– Does your organization place all diapers/urinals/speci hats and the PPE worn during the handling of body fluids in an antineoplastic waste bin? Yes
– Do you keep antineoplastic waste containers in patient rooms? If so, how do you secure and ensure patients do not access these? Yes; we try to keep the lids closed and they are not secured but no issues yet
-Do you use a new chemo gown every time the nurses handles the chemotherapy or enters the patient room to handle body fluids of a chemotherapy patient? Yes, that is a requirement….all gowns need to be single use only
Thank you for your help!
