    Hi All:
We are using the CADD Legacy Plus with  a special Blinatumomab cassette.  We have had the best luck using 72 hour and 96 hour bags because they run at 5 cc/hr which has been enough for the pump to run without alarming.  When we tried the 7 day bag, the 0.6 cc/hr rate was too slow and we had back up into the tubing and subsequent pump alarming.

We began the infusion in the hospital for 4 days then sent the patient home.  We have been successful keeping him in the outpatient setting by having him come to clinic at 72 hours then 96 hours for bag change and de-access/re-access.  In addition, we have withdrawn the first 5 cc once disconnecting the patient, then drawing labs, then flushing with saline only.  We’ve got 2 pumps so we take one down to specialty pharmacy each time we do a change and they have it primed, programmed and ready for the next visit.

It has been a ton of collaboration between pharmacy and nursing, but it’s finally working really well.

    Thanks.

    Kris

Hi Jennifer – We are using Alaris, I do not believe we have had success with our home infusion companies to use the CADD. Is the valve by Alaris or a different company?
