    For ambulatory:

Specific requirements:  New hires-oncology experience preferred but not required.  In order to administer chemo, they must have current chemo/bio certification.  They also initially complete a chemo administration class (internal) and a skills check-off  before administering independently regardless of certification.

BM transplant class (this does not preclude caring for a BMT in ambulatory)

Annual BMT education (content changes annually based on learning needs and/or new practices and modalities)

We have a list of skill check offs and reviews that our hospital completes annually.  Amongst those on the list that are particularly pertinent for hem/onc include :

    ·         CLABSI prevention:  mediport access, central line dressing change, line entry, cap change along with a series of questions for discussion

    ·         Chemo/bio safe handling including PPE

    ·         Chemotherapy administration

    Good Morning!

    1. Does your institution have specific requirements for hem/onc RNs?
    2.  Does your institution have yearly expectations for hem/onc RNs?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
