    Hi there-
See my answers for Duke Children’s below.
Oncology specific certification-required/optional? We do not require ONCOLOGY specific certification, but encourage staff to pursue one of the approved options (most of the peds/onc certifications are on the list, including CPN, CPHON, BMTCN and CPHHN).  Certification is required to advance on our institution’s clinical ladder.  Is this certification covered by your organization? Cost to take the test is not covered, but they are granted a “bonus” when they pass and then every two years.  We do provide unit owned certification materials and when available, certification review courses.  Right now we only have a CPN review and are very interested in getting a CPHON review course offered here.  What if the team member fails?  Unfortunately, the employee incurs the cost of re-taking.  We do set a deadline for attempting to take the test if we send them to the CPN review course.  For example, the course is offered in October every year and we require that they take the exam by June (end of fiscal year).
Yearly Oncology Continuing Education hours? We don’t require these.
Any other mandatory requirements related to Pediatric Oncology- the only thing we require is the APHON chemo/bio provider course by two years.  They can administer chemotherapy sooner if they take and pass our institution and unit specific chemo module and test.  Certain units require that competency at different timelines- some before nurse completes orientation and others by 1 year.  Our Peds oncology areas require PALS by 1 year.
    Hope that helps!

    Good Morning-
I am just wondering what other organizations are currently doing in regards to:
Oncology specific certification-required/optional? Is this certification covered by your organization? What if the team member fails?
    Yearly Oncology Continuing Education hours?
Any other mandatory requirements related to Pediatric Oncology

    Thanks-Tammy
