In our ambulatory clinic, the nurses are responsible to clean our exam rooms between patients with Sani Cloth Plus wipes(red top). We moved away from Super Sani cloth wipes (purple top) when our gurney surfaces and pulse oxi probe started to get worn off. The Sani Cloth plus wipes are used to clean the gurney, blood pressure machine (scanner, temp probe, pulse oxi probe and BP tubing) as well as our table, and chairs between patients. If the patient had something infectious that we become aware of in triage such as RSV or Covid, we get a deeper clean with housekeeping and UV light.
In our infusion bay, we wipe down our chairs completely as well as BP machines between patients as well.
Every night Housekeeping does a deeper clean and uses UV light.

Hello- In our clinic, the staff is responsible for cleaning between patients during clinic hours. There are opportunities for us to improve in this area. We are in separate buildings from our inpatient partners but the housekeeping staff provides a deeper cleaning for the evenings after closing @ 9pm.

I have a few questions regarding how other organizations clean their exam rooms between patients. Our outpatient clinic/day hospital is located within the main hospital. We have a clinic side with exam tables and then the Day Hospital side with beds (more like gurneys/carts). We are looking at the room cleaning process for turning over rooms between patients, and also the cleaning process each night after we are closed.
If you are able to help, please respond to the following questions:
1. Who is responsible for cleaning the exam rooms in between patients? 2. What gets cleaned in the room? 3. What cleaning solution/wipes get used? 4. Do you have other cleaning overnight for each exam room? 5. Do you use UV lights?
Thank you! Anne
