For our clinic exam and infusion rooms, nursing and PCT clean between patients. We use gray top sani-wipes, or orange top if there is a concern for C diff. We wipe down all surfaces – exam table (or gurney if infusion), side chairs, surfaces, computer, pump, and patient equipment. EVS cleans floors and empties garbage in all patient care rooms, and cleans public spaces/arm rails in halls/waiting spaces after hours.

I have a few questions regarding how other organizations clean their exam rooms between patients. Our outpatient clinic/day hospital is located within the main hospital. We have a clinic side with exam tables and then the Day Hospital side with beds (more like gurneys/carts). We are looking at the room cleaning process for turning over rooms between patients, and also the cleaning process each night after we are closed.
If you are able to help, please respond to the following questions:
1. Who is responsible for cleaning the exam rooms in between patients? 2. What gets cleaned in the room? 3. What cleaning solution/wipes get used? 4. Do you have other cleaning overnight for each exam room? 5. Do you use UV lights?
Thank you! Anne
