Course Overview: This course aims to equip nurses with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively utilize genomics in their practice, particularly in pediatric oncology. Participants will explore the barriers that hinder the integration of genomics, such as legal issues, lack of understanding, and time constraints for education. The course will also highlight the facilitators that can enhance genomic competency, including integrating genomics into nursing curricula, providing online education modules, and adopting a multi-modal approach to learning. Through a combination of lectures, interactive sessions, and practical exercises, nurses will gain a comprehensive understanding of genomics and its application in patient care. By the end of the course, learners will be able to identify barriers, list their perceived role in genomic practice, and discuss potential educational strategies to overcome these challenges.
