The ACE Center Presents: ACE Center Webinar: Pediatric Sickle Cell Disease: A Pharmacological Update – Past, Present, and Future
Join Dr. Patricia A. Clarke, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, CPHON; Quynh T. Remmel, PharmD; and Brian Bui, PharmD, BCPS for an insightful webinar on the evolving landscape of pediatric Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). This session will review the genetic and clinical foundations of SCD, highlight the burden of acute pain crises, and examine the impact of newborn screening. Presenters will explore current and emerging pharmacologic treatments—including Crizanlizumab, Endari, and the withdrawn Voxelotor—while discussing implications for nursing practice. Key nursing strategies for medication administration, adverse effect management, and patient education will be emphasized, along with a look at future directions such as gene therapy.
