Introducing APHON’s New Executive Director
APHON is pleased to share that Amy Sherwood, CAE became the new executive director of APHON on Monday, May 4th.
Amy returns to Association Management Center (AMC), which has been the home of APHON for the past 25 years. Sherwood was with AMC from 2005-2015 when she left to join the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Most recently she was the director of Society Management Services. In that role, she oversaw the day-to-day management of twelve independent societies, developed and negotiated management contracts and proposals for these societies, and served as interim executive director for several of them when needed.
Sherwood replaces Dave Bergeson, PhD, CAE, who was the executive director of APHON for 10 years while concurrently serving as AMC’s vice president of client relations for the last 2 years. “As I devote my time to fully serving as vice president of client relations, I am confident that APHON will be in good hands with Amy. She is a thoughtful, smart, and hardworking leader with 14 years of progressive experience managing professional healthcare associations that will serve her well in this new role.”
APHON President, Joan O’Hanlon Curry, MS RN CPNP CPON® shares, “I had the opportunity to meet with Amy and discuss our mission, goals and our passion for the work we do. She is full of energy and new ideas and has experience with health care professionals, just having worked with American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. I am very excited to welcome Amy to the APHON family.”
