Want to be Part of the Team?
We are looking for a dedicated team ready to make a year-long commitment.
- 1 Lead Editor
- 4 Section Editors
- 2 to 3 Authors per chapter
This curriculum serves as the foundation for APHON’s Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course and is designed for nurses who administer chemotherapy and biotherapy to pediatric and adolescent patients. Its primary purpose is to present content in a clear, accessible manner for nurses new to this specialty who will sit for the provider program certification.
The 5th edition will focus on refreshing outdated content and incorporating updates on emerging therapies, treatments, and best practices.
About the Editor Role (Lead Editor and Section Editor)
Editors will collaborate closely with subject matter experts and APHON staff to guide content development, ensure clinical accuracy, and uphold the high standards of previous editions. All interested candidates are encouraged to apply by January 30, 2026.
Requirements and Preferred Backgrounds
APHON Membership
- Must must hold an active APHON membership or be willing to obtain one.
Clinical Background
- Current chemotherapy/biotherapy provider or instructor status is not required, but candidates should have a history of patient care and prior provider status.
Education
- Minimum requirement: Master’s degree or higher.
Editorial Experience
- Preferred: Experience as a section editor for a textbook or a project of similar scope, or publications within APHON/JOPHON, COG, ONS, ASTCT, or academic nursing. Multiple lead-author publications in peer-reviewed journals may substitute for significant editorial experience.
Additional Considerations
- Candidates without editorial experience may still be considered if they demonstrate strong qualifications, such as serving as a nurse educator with documented experience leading large-scale projects.
Employer Support
- A letter of support from the employer confirming time commitment and availability for the project is required upon acceptance as an editor (unless retired).
- Retired Professionals: Current active role in healthcare or academics is not required for the Lead Editor position if retirement occurred within the past five years and all other requirements are met.
