Course Overview: This course discusses a novel approach for administering pediatric chemotherapy infusions in outpatient examination rooms. It outlines objectives for healthcare professionals, including the safe administration of three chemotherapy agents in an ambulatory setting, the impact of alternative infusion locations on appointment itineraries, and the overall effect on pediatric hematology/oncology families. Additionally, it includes questions related to process improvements, patient capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic, and metrics for evaluating the success of the pilot project.Â
Learning Outcomes:Â Â
- Describe 3 chemotherapy agents which can be safely administered in an ambulatory clinic setting. Â
- Explain how an alternative infusion location can be used for short infusions in the pediatric setting. Â
- Describe how shorter appointment itineraries can impact pediatric hematology/oncology families. Â
