Method of Review: The Senior II Texas Christian University Students enrolled in NURS40573 Pediatric Oncology Care and a member of the Evidence-Based Practice Protocol Review Subcommittee conducted a group review of the clinical guideline, followed by a discussion among the students and member to arrive at a consensus recommendation. Because this protocol is from the Oncology Nursing Society, the member of subcommittee and the students decided that a full review using the AGREE II criteria was not necessary. An expedited review was conducted utilizing the Rapid Appraisal Checklist for Evidence Based Guidelines1

Review Summary: Although this protocol for Anxiety was written for adult oncology patients, the recommendations for anxiety management can be adapted for the pediatric oncology population. These standards can also be applied to the pediatric oncology patient with modifications based on best practice in pediatric oncology and with some dosing modification for medication management for anxiety in the pediatric population.

Recommendation for use: Recommend with some modification for pediatric oncology.
