Method of Review: A subcommittee of the Evidence Based Practice and Research Committee of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses conducted a group review of the clinical guideline using the AGREE II criteria1. The committee had an overall assessment for recommendation.

Review Summary: We recommend this guideline for use by APHON membership. Best practices for Cyclophosphamide hydration are essential to all pediatric oncology centers. The benefits of hydration are proved to mitigate the toxicities of Cyclophosphamide for children and adolescents. This is a good review of evidence for the prevention of hemorrhagic cystitis as a complication of receiving cyclophosphamide. The authors made an effort to stress the relevance and feasibility of the recommendations, despite the lack of studies to support them. Often there is not enough research to make strong recommendations. But what is often important is the identification of the need for more nursing research into this practice.

Recommendation for use: Recommend for endorsement
